DJCARD GUIDE

How to prepare promo photos for a DJ press kit

Selection, formats and files for promoters: portraits, performance photos, originals and usage rights.

Choose a portrait and a performance photo

Promoters need to know who is performing and have material for publicity. Add a current portrait and a few good performance photos. Choose a recognisable face and clean composition over many similar images.

Prepare different crops

Portrait photos suit posters; wider images suit web banners. Leave enough room around the subject for cropping. If you have artwork with text, include a clean photo without lettering too.

Originals for print, previews for the web

Do not enlarge a small image just to increase its pixel count. Keep a good original and use a smaller preview for fast loading. DJcard retains uploaded originals for download. The free gallery allows 3 photos up to 10 MB; PRO allows 15 up to 30 MB.

Check usage rights

Agree with the photographer whether promoters may use the photos on posters, social media and websites, and how to credit them. Include the terms with your files. Uploading a photo alone does not grant permission to use it.

Check public downloads

Open your completed press kit while signed out and try downloading a photo. Give files clear names and regularly remove outdated versions.
